Freaky Creatures are two things in one. First off, they're a collectable toy. The collectable toys come in two different varieties - the Starter Pack, and Booster Packs. If you're famililar with trading card games - you always get the Starter Pack first, followed by Booster Packs to supplement your game. Freaky Creatures are no different. You buy the Starter Park for $19.99 when the game is released sometime in 2008. What do you get in the Starter Pack? Good question! You get two creatures (in toy form, and the same two creatures in digital form), a 1 Gig USB Flash Drive, and a 30 day free trial to the online game.
What are Freaky Creatures?!

Free Trial? Online game? What? Also good questions. When you bring your Starter Pack home, and plug in the USB Flash Drive, you'll get access to the Freaky Creatures online game. With your USB Flash, you'll get 50 randomly generated parts to customize your creatures – 20 "powers" and four randomly generated objects for your creature's lair. With these creature parts and powers - you're able to battle your creatures against thousands of other trainers around the world (even on mobile phones - more on this later)! You're also able to decorate your creature's liar with food, items, and pets for your creature. To get access to these online features, you'll need to pay a monthly fee of 5.99.

Battling your creature will give it experience to distribute to it's stats, and as it gains levels it gets access to more and more powers to use. You battle your creatures in lobbies with around 15-20 other people with simliar ranks as you. Creature battles are turn-based (meaning you do your move, your opponent does their's, lather, rinse, repeat...), and are reported to take anywhere from 5-15 minutes. Sometimes after beating a creature, you'll be able to steal one of their powers for your own use.
Not only can you battle on the PC - but you can bring your creature's with you anywhere you go on your mobile phone! It's still unclear of exactly what feature's will be available on mobile phones, but it's been reported that you will be able to battle via your phone. Here comes Mobile to Mobile, and Mobile to PC cross-platform battling!
Booster Packs will retail for around 9.99 and will include one creature (again, toy and digital of the same) with 25 parts, 10 powers and two lair objects (also again, randomly generated). There are 10 creatures per series, and of course, some creatures will be more rare than others. Once you own all 10 creatures of the series, you are granted access to a hidden and rare 11th creature! Each new series is said to be released roughly every 9 months.

If you're familiar with sites like Webkinz and Habbo Hotel - you know what it means to have a room to decorate. Freaky Creatures will have something like this as well - but in full 3D. You'll be able to pet your creature and give it items and pets to increase it's happiness - your creature will get hungry, and you'll need to feed it (Things like this are not MUSTS, but are added extra's for those that like things like that - if you want to fight battle after battle after battle - feel free!).
You can buy, trade, and sell powers, items, creature parts, and more with other trainers across the internet (using in-game currency, the 5.99 monthly fee is all you need to pay to get full access to the game).
Freaky Creatures is currently slated for Beta testing Summer 2008, and hopefully ready for release around Fall/Winter 2008.
