Merashas are very smart for creatures, almost so intelligent that they were once banned from use as a creature. However, since no one has ever figured out how to communicate with them, they were classified as "battle worthy". In the deep oceans, the Merashas build nests, decorating them with seashells and unique coral that is shaped and formed by the Merasha's singing. As much as the creatures themselves are loved as combatants, many have trained Merashas just so they can have them make coral art, which sells for huge sums of money on the intergalatic market.

Though humans consider their size frigtening, there are many dangers on Inferna that make the Setsa seem small by comparision. Catching a Setsa is one of the hardest things known to man.
